[Blogjacking] – Free Cross-stitch!

I’ve been straying from knitting since I got the Hobbycraft job (don’t worry, knitting still has a warm and fuzzy place in the centre of my heart). I used to love cross-stitch. The first one I ever did was a Newton’s Law “What’s it all about?” kit that Wonder-Mum bought me when I was about twelve or thirteen. I’m sure I have it somewhere, but who knows.

Anyway, the revival has started recently, with a few forays into small pieces as I grew up. Wonder-Gran has an elephant hanging in her room that I gave her for Christmas one year – two years in the making! Ahh well.

This year I have completed a few, but they are destined for presents and shall not be revealed until after the festive season. I got chatting about this with customer yesterday, and she told me to look up the following website.

Brigitte Dadaux Cross-Stitch

Brigitte Dadaux is, as far as I can tell, a French cross-stitch designer. This is only as far as I can tell as my French skills are limited to “I am hungry, I am thirsty, I would like an ice cream please.” However, cross-stitch having a universal chart language, this doesn’t bother me so much.

The website the customer directed me to was Brigitte’s blog, which can be found here. Yes, it’s all in French – luckily, this delightful customer also wrote down the phrase I should look for.

grille gratuite point de croix

This means free patterns. Free! (Incidentally, Google just translated the page for me. In English, it apparently means ‘freebie cross-stitch’.)

Anyway, the designs are so, so cute. They are largely monochrome, and range from relatively simple, to absolutely gorgeous black and white complexity. I’ve put a few here but I’ve copied them all from her website and the copyright is clearly Brigitte Dadaux.

You can buy patterns from her too, and I’m sure my wallet is going to suffer from this discovery. For now, I’m enjoying browsing the patterns available.

Do you cross-stitch?
