[Blogjacking] – needlework & sketching

I’ve been doing more needlework and sketching than normal in recent weeks – the former because my darling JS did some tidying and discovered some of my embroidery WIPs in a box that I emphatically denied any ownership over. Oops!

The second because I was inspired by this blog to start sketching again, and the hobby has taken off in a rather typically Corrie-does-hobbies-PROPERLY way. (I mean, let’s face it, I already have two hamsters! Didn’t know that? Find out more here!)

Beading a Star

I started this project sometime last year – some of you may remember it from Twitter. It was while I was not very well and occupying my time with hours of crafting, and started out meaning to be a headpiece.

I did the embroidery on an old pillow-case, and having dug it out this weekend I decided that I was not going to turn it into an accessory. I sacrificed one of my embroidery hoops, glued it all in, and ended up with this!

I’ve hung it on the wall in our bedroom, until I one day have a craft-room, where it shall take pride of place!

Little Deer

This is a Craftseller project that I started last year and stopped working on when I got bored of blanket stitch. It only took about half an hour to finish, so I don’t know what I was thinking when I didn’t pick it up again – but anyway.

A little deer who needs a name (and possibly a nose?) Thoughts?

Isn’t she cute? This little cuddly is destined for another home in the near future.

Mushroom

I’ve been going through a workbook on improving one’s sketching, and I sketched this mushroom in about 20 minutes the other night. I hated it until about 5 minutes ago, and now I’m feeling all motivated to do more…

A mushroom!

I still have about four embroidery projects on the go (still in the box) which I’m going to have a proper good stab at when I get back from South Africa. I’d forgotten how much fun it is.

I’ll be taking some socks to knit on the plane, so hopefully next time I blog it will be with a new pair of striped sockses!

Much love,

Corrie xx
