Creative Stitches and Hobbycrafts Show – Part Two

You got all the information on specific for the Creative Stitches and Hobbycrafts Show in Part One – now for Part Two, in which Corrie buys many of items that only includes one ball of yarn!

Before you read this, I will lead you to the anticipatory post I wrote on the way to the show, in which I babbled on about what amazing things I expected to be able to buy…

Creative Stitches and Hobbycrafts Show – Part Two

The show itself was, in all honesty, less amazing than I was expecting, from a knitting point of view. There were not very many knitting stalls, and I was unable to find any of the things I wanted for all the projects I have planned. I bought one ball of sock yarn, and that was it! On a knitting front, anyway…

For everything other than knitting, though, it was fantastic. We each embroidered something on the longest piece of embroidery in the world, sponsored by the National Trust. I am not a stitching expert by any stretch of the imagination – I am able to cross-stitch, and that’s about it. I bought a starter kit so that I can get going on embroidery properly, and have a nice reference book that should help out a lot.

And here it is in its full glory.

MdB and I spent ages drooling over lace-making kits that I really wanted to buy but couldn’t justify the expense – or the space they would take up. This is a craft I have yearned to have a go at since I went to Malta with my darling cousin and his wife a few years ago. Maltese lace is incredible and I will be able to make lace one day.

I’ve been having a go at card-making recently, and I bought a few stamps and a paper punch in the shape of a paw that were fairly cheap and suited me down to the ground. You’ll see why…

I also purchased a mini travel-iron so I can stop stealing the Prof’s iron whenever I sew. The lack of an iron in my sewing corner has been something that has been putting me off sewing for a while – now, though, there is nothing to stop me.

We had a bit of lunch in the show-room, and left around two to go back to the town-centre. We sat in a Costa (I had hot chocolate with ALL the bad things) and I knitted my sock for a while, after having admired my purchases.

That’s it for this show. MdB and I have plans to go to a lot more, and you’ll no doubt be kept up to date with it here!

Much love,

Corrie xx
