Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! It’s the 1st of January 2014 for the next 31 minutes, and I can’t quite believe that it is a new year…we brought it in last night with a big party at home, including deadly punch, American burgers and fireworks. The party was based on Mad Men, and I spent hours printing out posters from the 1960’s and sticking them around the flat. My favourite was this one, which is from the show itself and not a *real* poster.

New Year Crafting

A few months ago I was gifted a few tutorials from The Amazings in return for trying them out for them. I didn’t have the proper resources at the time to actually try out the hair ones – but I decided to give the 60’s Bardot a go last night. The result was amazing – JS thought it was beautiful and I got lots of compliments. I was the only one who made *that* much effort with my hair, and boy it felt good!

I had time and the resources last night, and I decided to do it while we were still setting up. I put my hair in the rollers, then carried on setting up while they cooled. From there, it was fairly simple to follow the instructions and put the hair up. It was incredibly well presented, the instructions were easy, and it looked sort of professional…It felt pretty good to have my hair done nicely, and it was grand to be able to do it so easily.

If you want to give it a go, please do – one of the best tools was actually just learning how to curl my hair properly! For a free class, click here.

Resolutions

I managed to achieve all of my December Resolutions except writing up a pattern, and today have set some January Resolutions. These are:

1. Cast on the Weasley Sweater.

2. Cast on Garland.

3. Spin 50 g.

4. Cast on Lace Dress.

I’m doing well so far! While we were watching Sherlock tonight, I cast on and finished my tension square for Garland. I now need to do the other two, and I’m looking forward to it!

We are doing a knitalong on Monthly Resolutions, the group on Ravelry where we support each other with our monthly resolutions. This is to knit ‘a sweater’ – and we have set the final date for the 30th of June, although this is a target and not set in stone! I hope it won’t take me that long but I do lose motivation sometimes…

That’s it from me for now. How did you bring in the New Year? Do you have any resolutions to do with crafting?

Much love,

Corrie xx
