Meet the triplets – baby sheep time!

Shyna, one of our four mules, had triplets this morning! Typically, I’m not on the farm, and missed the whole thing. Frustrating! I am on a bit of a tour of Britain at the moment, with a tropical themed ceilidh in Bristol last night, visiting the Craft Hobby and Stitch International trade show in Birmingham tomorrow, and spending some time in London, leaving on Thursday.

Anyway, here are the photos and videos that I do have, and when I return next week I’ll have loads of photos and videos for you of the triplets, and the show!

The Triplets

I got a call from my mum this morning saying it looked like Shyna was in labour, and mum had taken her back into the stable. Shortly afterwards, she sent me this photo. I immediately went into raptures of delight. Look at the little face! It sounds like everything went well, and shortly afterwards, we got the next photo, and a little video.

It was a nice and easy birth, and by the end Shyna had three little lambs! There are two boys and a girl, and in one fell swoop, the number of mules that we have has almost doubled. I haven’t had a chance to talk to my parents yet, so I don’t know the ins and outs of everything, but chances are I won’t write about them, as they’re bound to be gory!

Shyna is a wonderful mum – our other sheep, Lambikins, is hers from two years ago, and thrives! She’s been taking great care of the triplets so far.

I was determined to make a lovely little film of the whole thing (although not the gory details), so now all I have to do is hope that Angelica and Lambikins hold on until I get home on Thursday – but preferably Friday!

We’ve been on tenterhooks for weeks and I’m so mad that this has happened while I’m away. C’est la vie! The lambs will now stay in the stable for the next 24 hours, and will have their first day in the field during the week. I think we’re going to supplement them, as triplets will be rather demanding in terms of the milk they’re going to need, and you just know that I’m going to film bottle feeding of lambs!

Have a wonderful Sunday.

Much love,

Corrie xx
