[Blogjacking] – Sewing bunting and a dress for a wedding

I haven’t been able to blog for a couple of days because…well, my brain won’t let me. I can’t even knit at the moment. I’ve been sewing, as I’m finding it slightly easier to concentrate on. So, here is a blogjack – it’s not about knitting or spinning, but it’s crafty anyway and hopefully you will like it.

Sewing Bunting

This weekend, an orchestra JS plays with is coming to our village on tour. We are giving a barnce – a barn dance (yours truly will be playing fiddle). I decided to make some bunting out of some clothes I got rid of from my wardrobe a few weeks ago. The orchestra is called “Imperial College String Ensemble“, and in the centre of the bunting I put the initials “ICSE” and the logo.

I wanted the bunting to be useful when we do barnces for non-ICSE events, so I attached these with buttons. I didn’t do it very neatly, but they are removable at least.

Sewing a Dress

As for dress-making, JS‘ sister, Turtle, is getting married next week. I decided to sew my dress – as always, I have a back-up option, but I’m tentatively optimistic at the moment. The fabric I chose is liquid satin in a deep emerald green colour, with a gold lining and black ruffle netting.

I’m going to be making a first attempt in a tulip fabric that I’ve had for years – that is what I’m working on at the moment.

I’m sure this blog is badly written, and the links etc are not fab. I’m finding writing really, really hard. A few weeks ago, in addition to the depression, there were some other things going on with my tummy. I have to go have ultrasound scans for that, and I’m worried too. I’m not in a happy place at the moment, so I’m going to throw myself into sewing and hopefully get out of this bad place soon.

Much love,

Corrie xx

Don’t worry so much about your blog – it’s totally fine. I don’t know why people apologies for not blogging, it’s your blog, do what you like!!

The colour of your dress is goregous! I hope it works out for you!

      Hi Tanya,

Thanks for the kind words! I guess it’s kind of a ‘journal writers’ guilt – you feel like you need to do it and when I haven’t written I feel like some people may go “ahhh where has Corrie gone!?” whereas actually it’s my life in crisis and not the blog! Hehe, anyway, the dress came out well I was so happy!

Hello, I found my way to your blog while reading FO Friday posts. You had asked for three recommendations in your comment and I couldn’t resist giving you my top three, hope you don’t mind… :)

SingleHandedKnits, Mel lives in Hawaii, does a blog and a video podcast and has a great Ravelry group. Current KAL is Sock the Vote! Check her out!
FatSquirrelSpeaks, Amy is wildly energetic, funny, and a tad goofy. Her blog and podcast hook me up to new yarns and patterns, plus she makes me laugh.
StockinetteZombies, Amy and Megan knit and spin and organize fun KALs. They also blog and podcast.
I could list more but will stop at three… btw, I love the Bunting cardi you made and the colors are lovely. erin
