Disney-Giveaway time!

Disney giveaway time! Today is a monumental day — I can finally do a giveaway!

Also, my fleeces arrived! Now begins the process of preparing them for spinning, eek. More on that later :)

Disney Giveaway!

I ordered “Disney Knits” by Melinda Coss and Debby Robinson to knit something for a friend, and I think it is absolutely great. It’s a bit old fashioned – some of the coats are a bit crazy, particularly the Cruella de Vil coat, which takes Disney-loving to the next level.

Some of the things you can make are amazing, however. I am definitely making this for my first child!

The happy news is – I have a spare copy of the book to give away to one of my lucky readers.

How do I enter?

If you want to enter the giveaway, leave a comment here explaining who your favourite Disney character is, and how you would represent them in knitting. The winner will be drawn at random, using a random generator that JS, a statistical genius, has created.

For example:

My favourite Disney character of all time has got to be Rafiki, the monkey from the Lion King. The Lion King was the first film I ever watched, started a life-time of love for Disney, leaving me crying (I was six years old!). If I were to knit a representation of Rafiki, it would definitely be a cuddly toy that I could sit on my windowsill to challenge anyone coming to my front door!

Rafiki: "asante sana, squash banana, wiwi nugu, Mi Mi apana"

You have until the 22nd of August to enter, so get commenting! We are experiencing a Disney Vogue in the office at the moment, as one of the interns wrote a Disney-based thesis, and is obsessed with it. She plays music from “The Little Mermaid” all the time. It’s great.

This giveaway is open to everyone, everywhere. Location is not an issue.

Much love,

Corrie xx

My favourite Disney character of all time is Robin Hood! I love that cartoon so much and it was my favourite as a child! A few years ago my husband paid a fortune for a copy on DVD for Christmas. I would knit a fox that looked exactly like him with a hat and bow and arrow and he would defend me from the horrible sheriff of Nottingham!!

  2. Morticia says:

My favourite disney character is the wicked queen in snow white – I’d love to be able to capture her in yarn.

  3. Jen Smith says:

My favorite is Donald, because I never lose my temper but he always does. He’s my stress outlet. Laughing at him blowing his top always makes me feel better. I think I would knit his angry expletives (“&*$*%”) as cushions on a sailor blue sofa. I’m more of an abstract thinker & knitter most of the time.

  4. Lisa Stevenson says:

Mine is a princess… Belle from beauty and the beast…
She is so kind and gentle… I’ve recently taken a Monster pattern and turned it into Belle for a swap.. it was alot of fun and I want to make another for my daughter

Brilliant, I love princesses too. I think my favourite new princess is Rapunzel from Enchanted! Love her. I’m interested in how you changed a monster pattern into a princess. Any further info available?

  5. Erica says:

My favorite character is Sorcerer Mickey. I would probably represent him in knitting by embroidering his hat onto a hexipuff and making it into a keychain. :)

  6. Sinéad says:

My favourite character is really hard to pick! I suppose the one I’ve loved for the longest is Goofy. I love that clumsy guy, but I love his big heart the most. If I were to represent him in knitting though, it’d have to be his crazy hat. Every time I was in a grumpy mood I’d put it on to cheer myself up. :)

  7. Wendy says:

Gosh how hard to choose just one favourite Disney character. I think it has to be Pinocchio. I would want a Jimminy Cricket to pop in my jacket pocket to keep me on the straight and narrow in today’s trying times. (also he has the most beautiful singing voice)

  8. Briana Rightmeier says:

I don’t think I can choose just one character!
    Rapunzel is asigjeiajg…
    Remy and Linguini from Ratatouille!
But… favorite Sora from Kingdom Hearts is great too!

I absolutely love all symbols in Kingdom Hearts. They would look great in scarves and hats and all the things!

  9. KnitFoolDeirdre says:

I have had a long love affair with Disney … l grew up in Florida and my family got to go to WDW on opening day. I love so many Disney characters for many reasons, but my favorite has always been the gentle and elegant Duchess from the Aristocats. In yarn, I would represent Duchess in knitting by creating an elegant wrap in the softest white and add a tasteful sparkling closure.
