Happy (2nd) Birthday!

The Etsy giftcard giveaway is now closed!

That’s right – today is Plutonium Muffins’ second birthday! We’ve gone from the first ever post to celebratory first year giveaways to pattern publication and the birth of my spinning career. My, it’s been a busy couple of years!

Last year I had a birthday box giveaway, which was really stressful because I spent the whole time worrying that the person who got it would hate it. This year, I am going to do something different, inspired by a recent purchase I made on Etsy…

Birthday Giveaway – Etsy – NOW CLOSED

In the spirit of birthdays and ignoring the fact that it’s nearly Christmas, I wanted to do something that would allow someone to do something they only get to do once a year – buy something for themselves.

So, you will be winning a £20 gift card for Etsy, with which you can buy anything!

I don’t know if you’ve ever had a look on Etsy, but if you haven’t I thoroughly recommend you going and having a look. A lot of the stuff on there is to die for! As it is all handmade, the prices can be high because as we all know, handmade takes time and love, and as a result costs more. I don’t often treat myself to things like this as I normally think I could make something myself, or I just simply can’t justify the expense…if someone gave me £20 for Etsy I’d probably go nuts with funky roving!

Camel roving would be my birthday treat to me!

Much love,

Corrie xx

Happy 2nd to Plutonium Muffins! To treat myself on my birthday I’d use the gift card to purchase a decadent skein of yarn that I normally wouldn’t/couldn’t purchase. Thanks so much for the generous giveaway…I LOVE handmade and I LOVE Etsy!

  4. Diane says:

I would pick a shawl pin and matching pendant from: nicholasandfelice
Handcrafted Jewelry, Shawl Pins, Ornaments, Vases… they got really really nice things. Happy 2nd birthday.

  5. Alli says:

What a terrific and generous idea! And 2nd Happy Birthday! To treat myself on my birthday I tend towards shoes or bags – and a little decadent yarn too! But I love your idea for handpainted roving!

  6. Nancy Butler says:

Happy Birthday Plutonium Muffins! To treat myself on my birthday I would do what I usually do when visiting Etsy, get so far from where I started, looking at more and more and adding to my list of favorites. But this time I would be able to buy some of them! Either some luscious jewel-tone yarn or delicate stitch markers.

  7. I would buy a large project bag I’ve been wanting. It’s made from a gorgeous fabric in my favorite colors: shades of purple!

  8. Linda says:

I love hand painted yarns. That’s probably what I’d get if I won. Thank you for the chance to win and happy 2nd birthday.

    Congratulations & Happy 2nd Blogthday!
To treat myself on my birthday… I justify some of the impulse yarn and roving purchases I make throughout the year! (etsy can be very evil)

  10. Mega says:

Haha I guess we think very much alike! I’d definitely go for for some bright hand-dyed roving too, so I can practice spinning on something that isn’t just plain white.

Congrats on your 2-year anniversary! I’ve just started blogging so I know how much commitment it takes and props to you for sticking it out for 2 years :)

  11. martine101 (on Rav) says:

I’d buy some roving and a drop spindle. I’ve wanted to try spinning for quite some time now! My birthday was two days ago so I splurged on yarn of course! I only got one gift so I’ll have to wait to try spinning.

  12. Madeleine says:

Ooh etsy, I love etsy. Could spend all day on there. So my entry…
To treat myself on my birthday I would hope on the eurostar to Paris, go to Place de la Madeleine, buy 2 pink madeleines from Fauchon and sit on their pink furniture and eat them in the sunshine. :-) fingers crossed.

    Happy 2nd birthday Plutonium Muffins!

To treat myself on my birthday… I splurge on something for myself. Even if it’s free (getting hubby to watch the kids so I can sleep in or take a nap), or inexpensive in the grand scheme of things (a Chai Latte from Starbucks or a package of my favorite cookies), I make sure I get a little “me time” in some form or other. Of course I’d prefer to splurge on some amazing yarn, some adorable buttons, some inspiring patterns, etc. when the budget allows!

  15. Connie Kline says:

I would buy myself a nice yarn bowl. Thank you for the lovely giveaway!

  16. Rose S. says:

Happy BlogaBirthday. To treat myself on my birthday I would shop for some of the extra special buttons I have seen on Etsy to adorn my special knits.

Happy Birthday! To treat myself on my birthday I would certainly buy something with a stone. A lucky stone for 2014. Earrings, a necklace or just stitch markers. But the lucky mineral stone must be there.
    Have a great party!

  20. Regula says:

    Congratulations! :-)

  21. Cathy says:

  24. Sheila says:

Happy 2nd Birthday! On my birthday, I usually treat myself with a nice red wine and some decadent chocolate item. If I win for your blog birthday, I’ll treat myself to a skein of self-striping sock yarn. I’ve been admiring quite a few, but have been unable to justify buying any because I have a huge stash of variegated, tonal, and solid sock yarns.

  25. Happy 2nd Birthday! How exciting for you. :-)

To treat myself on my birthday I like to have some excellent food (normally provided by my lovely husband) and some lovely chocolate and red wine.

On my birthday if I’m able, I get my hair done or my nails then I treat myself to a special meal (sometimes I treat a friend too) and then if I’m still able within my birthday budget I buy myself a little present, sometimes jewelry, knitting needles, yarn or new shoes I’ve been eying.

  28. Donna says:

What a generous offer, Happy Birthday! To treat myself on my birthday I would get a hand crafted drop spindle and some dyed fleece locks. Love seeing what other people would get.

  29. Julie says:

To treat myself on my birthday I would go out to eat for some grilled salmon and wine, then find and buy a long gradient colorway of sock weight yarn. Thanks for treating us on YOUR birthday.

Oooh happy birthday plutonium muffins x
I’d love be a nice person like the one above who said they’d give the etsy voucher right back to you but the thought of being able to splurge on gorgeous sock yarn is too much of a temptation. However, for my birthday I might buy some hand painted sock yarn BUT then knit some funky socks and they could walk themselves to you, that way we both win!! Have a great birthday x
